My Writing
I write books to inspire children to be brave, creative problem-solvers. I write to help children see that they can accomplish anything. Hopefully, my stories leave children with much to think about: what can they take on next?
I have created and completed six picture books, awaiting the lucky agent or editor to completely fall in love with them. I currently revising a middle grade novel. I am a member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI). I was pleased to attend their Winter Conference in New York City in January 2012. I left the conference inspired, invigorated, and with a journal full of ideas. On a weekly basis, I am thrilled to work with my critique group of fellow children's book writers. I met these wonderful women at an Advanced Children's Writing course with Gotham Writer's Workshop. We have been working together for almost two years, and I learn so much about the craft of writing from each of them. Two of us from this critique group have a blog about writing and reading and everything in between. Please join us at A Life Spent Reading. |
